Jaeden's wild one inspired first birthday party

It's hard to wrap my brain around the fact that I (already) have a one year old, I remember so clearly heading into the hospital eagerly awaiting to meet my baby boy. This year has flown by, but at the same time, I can't remember life without Jaeden. He is our world, and we love him SO much. He's full of energy, smiles & kisses. He loves people, attention, balls, water, his pool & his family. He is my fearless wonder, and my handsome, littlest best bud. Taylor and I love being his parents and love watching our families fall in love with him too.

With Jaeden being a June baby, I knew I wanted to throw his first birthday outside. I am a lover of Michigan summer days, and so is Jaeden! He LOVES to be outside. His party theme was inspired by the outdoors with lots of lush greenery, mixed metals, and simple details woven in. I chose to add subtle pops of gold, copper, black and white to the party decor, and I love how it all came together. From day one, I had the vision of having his first birthday party right in our own backyard and I hope it inspires other moms out there to get creative with what they can do with their own backyards. We have a gorgeous tree that blossoms in June, so we added a cute thrifted clutch in front of it for our cake table and cake smash! We also built a wooden wall onto our back patio as a backdrop, and it worked perfectly for our food tables and it adds a really fun element to our patio. I decided to hang gold balloons across to add a focal point and I thought is was such a fun detail! We also added strands of white lights for an accent as it got later into the evening for a romantic and moody atmosphere.

On Jaeden’s highchair I added touches of jungle inspired greenery, and I made him a birthday crown out of caramel/brown colored felt paper. I may due a separate tutorial on the crown, if you all are interested! I also made a photo installation of my favorite snap shots from our first year with him to hang behind the iced coffee bar. As far as the greenery goes, I ordered fresh greenery from Sam's Club and it was were delivered to my door step 2 days before his party. I had some time to throw together a few simple arrangements and then also added little touches to his two cakes. One for his actual birthday smash, one for decoration. I had some cute centerpieces as well, but it was too windy for them so I just laid down some greenery on the tables!

Overall, the party was a BLAST! Jaeden had a ton of fun, we had a ton of fun, and as you can see he is just SO loved!

Thank you for taking the time to check out his wild one inspired party! Hope you enjoy it and let me know if you have any questions about any of the decor! Links to the materials are at the bottom of the post.
